PROJECTS

Brazil - strategic consultancy on clean growth leadership, sustainable development goals and mobilising sustainable finance in the development finance sector

Through its global Skill-Share projects, the UK’s PACT programme aims to demonstrate global clean growth leadership and provide a direct mechanism to support partner countries in areas of strategic climate importance.

UK PACT is jointly governed and funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).

The objective of the UK Skill-Shares conducted by greenCrowd is to develop a long-term strategy and specific actions that Brazilian development finance institutions (DFIs) can take in the process of incorporating sustainability and adopting SDG criteria into their products, services, operations and governance.

DFIs play a strategic role in the Brazilian economy as credit provider (loan asset portfolio of R$5 trillion accounting for 44% of total credit currently disbursed in Brazil, serving 48.1 million individual clients).

greenCrowd believes that DFIs can play a defining role in both mitigating the potential damages brought about by a carbon-intensive, ‘business as usual’ global economy, as well as finding new, innovative and catalytic approaches for adapting to a changed climate.

With the right tools at their disposal, DFIs can foster local public and private partnerships across all the regions and corners of Brazil and in so doing get the required volume of capital flowing to projects that make a difference locally and nationally.
